North Central Pennsylvania New Golfers Club

Lewisburg, Pa.- Three Ponds was well represented here today in the fourth tournament of the NCPGA Junior Tour. Cody Conklin and Shane Yeager both fashioned two over par 72 on a very firm and fast Bucknell Golf Club. Conklin prevailed in a sudden death playoff by making a birdie on the first hole. Both players had identical 39-33 (72) nines. Conklin made bogies on holes 4, 5, 7and 8 before making a two putt birdie on the par five ninth hole. A lone back nine bogey on the par three tenth was offset with back to back birdies on fourteen and fifteen. Yeager made bogeys on 5,6 and 8 while matching par on the other six holes on the front. A bogey on ten was offset with a birdie on 11 and then he matched par the rest of the way before making a birdie three on the last hole.

 CJ Tyler, playing out of the host club Bucknell for the first season, shot a 3 over par 73 to win the 13-15 year old division. He was seven shots ahead of second place Corey Lewis of Tyoga Golf Club.

 Jacob Lenhart of Wynding Brook won the 10-12 year old division with a nine hole score of 46.  Peter Kissinger of the Susquehanna Valley Country Club was second with 50.

 Taylor Krout of the Williamsport Country Club won the girls 13-15 with 110. Amy Seeley of Belles Springs Golf Club won the 10-12 year old girls division with a nine hole score of 79.

 Chris Timblin won the 5 hole division with a 28, one shot ahead of White Deer’s Derek Lewis and Bucknell’s Peter Marrara.

 The NCPGA provided real time live scoring throughout the day on its web site, www.ncpga.net . It was the first time that live scoring was done on the NCPGA Junior Tour. The NCPGA used live scoring for the first time in May for the US Open local qualifier at Huntsville .

 88 junior golfers participated in the tournament. The next Junior Tour Event will be next Monday, July 13 at the White Deer Golf Club in Allenwood.

 The NCPGA is a non-profit organization of member golf clubs dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the game of golf in North Central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1981, the association conducts a highly successful junior tour, men’s and women’s amateur championships, a senior tournament series, U.S. Open local qualifying and provides handicapping services to member clubs which is the major source of revenue to the association. NCPGA volunteers also rate golf courses and conduct educational seminars for handicap chairmen, rules clinics and supports the USGA Turf Advisory Program.
